we must reinvent love

Excitement poured out of every pore in Cryss's body. She was beginning to truly adore this school, with it's friendly, strange, and sexy characters. Nothing could have brought her mood down, especially since Zack would be arriving that afternoon. So far, she'd been able to make friends while she smoked up a storm unpacked her stuff in her currently empty dorm room. Hopefully, she'd have a roommate by the time Zack arrived.

But now she was done unpacking and she needed very badly to be out of that tiny little room with it's darkness and its silence. So, she'd grabbed her iPod and off she was. Really, Cryss wasn't a fan of portable music players because you were typically made to wear headphones and as she wasn't about to walk around with big hulking things on her ears, ear buds were a requirement. But the thing about having sensitive hearing is that even the lowest volume is a little bit painful, and everything sounds a little bit tinny and too electronic.

Better, is a radio. Best is live music. Cryssy goes to a lot of local concerts, and she's hoping to meet with a few musicians at AGM.

For now, however, she is content to walk around in the woods with her iPod on, listening to popular pop music that she doesn't actually like.

"No matte gay, straight or bi! Lesbian, transgender life! I'm on the right track, Baby, I was booorn this way! No matter white, black, or beige!" Cryssy has a sort of tendency to sing out loud, which is what she just so happened to be doing when she ran into a stone bench and nearly killed herself fell flat on her face. She just barely managed to save herself from impending doom, but she dropped her iPod and one of the ear buds was ripped from inside of her ear.

"OW! Oh, shit, God damn it." She brought a hand up to her left ear and gently removed the other ear bud, taking a seat on the offending bench.

If only her jeans hadn't been too tight to put her iPod in her pocket, she wouldn't have this problem.

Vivienne exhaled, letting a cloud of smoke engulf her. Placing the cigarette back to her lips, she inhaled deeply through her mouth. She continued this several times before tossing it over her shoulder. She was sitting on a rather large boulder, leaning her head back against a tree behind her. She was quite some distance from the nearest trail, but not far enough that someone wouldn’t be able to find her.

Leaning down to her bag, Vivienne prodded around in her bag, searching for a certain item. With a triumphant smile, she pulled from it’s contents a sketch book and charcoal pencil. She set to work immediately, beginning a work of art that was worthy of a professional. She sat, her brow furrowed in concentration, for quite some time, only stopping long enough to shift her weight or glance around to see if anyone was near.

So accustomed to the silence, Viv jumped, smearing the charcoal across her page. Jaw tensing in fury, Viv’s head snapped up, searching for the intruder. The sound was near, and loud. Eyes narrowing, Vivienne realized it was a girl singing. Quite terribly, actually. Although, Vivienne thought everyone sang badly. Then she heard the girl yell and then follow with a string of obscenities.

Shoving her book and pencil back into her bag and slinging the pack onto her shoulder, Vivienne stormed towards the sound. When she reached the trail, she saw a girl sitting with her back turned to Viv. She tromped right up to the girl, grabbing her shoulders and spinning her around to face the fuming student. “What the hell?! Can you not keep quiet? Did you think there might be someone else out here, trying to enjoy the silence? Yea. That would be me.”

Vivienne rolled back on her heels and crossed her arms, glaring at the girl in disgust, “What are you even doing out here?” She dug in her bag until she had found a joint. Lighting it, she placed it to her lips. “And you sing terribly, by the way.”

Crystal stared at her intruder with big, slightly watery eyes, letting the pounding in her ears and the clouds around Viv's mouth disappear before she responded. "Could you try to turn your voice down a little? My ears or sensitive. S-E-N-S-I-T-I-V-E. Sensitive. I can hear you. In fact, I can hear you so well it hurts." Crystal put a hand on her hip and cocked her head to the side. "I'm sorry for interrupting you. Sort of. My name is Crystal, but all the cool cats call me Cryss." Crystal offered up a big, goofy smile. She was higher than the ceiling and fighting hard not to show it.

However, if this newcomer knew Cryss well, she would know that the normal Cryss would not be this mellow. She would be much more hyperactive. She would have been able to call her bluff right away. It was rather lucky, then, that she and Crystal were, as of yet, unacquainted.

When the girl pulled out a joint, it made Cryss smile. At least she wouldn't be the only one who smoked pot here. Of course, she didn't know for sure that it was pot, but it sure smelled like it one it had been lit. "It's a free country, Babe." Crystal lowered herself onto the offensive bench that had been so rude as to stick out a knee and trip her, patting the spot next to her for the other girl to take. "I was just going for a walk. I'm waiting for Zack to show up. And my roommate, whoever she is, has not yet show her face. I got bored, and I'm too fluffy--you know, like a bear--to be in my room all alone." She said all of this as though it were the simplest subject for anyone with a functioning brain to comprehend.

She laughed, a little too loud and a little too long, at the comment about her singing. "You would think that I would be better it," she mused. She'd often said the same thing to anyone who would listen, but she was far beyond trying to figure it out.
