Shock, shock, electrorock and steady now clear
A sigh passed a pale boy’s lips as he sat on a chair, arms spread across a desk. He had the end of a pen shoved in his mouth as he stared in dismay at the enormous amount of homework assignments sprawled on the desk in front of him. This boy was sitting at this very chair from the afternoon and time had gone by so fast that it was already around 12am. This boy went by the name of Austin James Philips and he wasn’t in a particularly pleasant mood. After all, this was punishment for bad mouthing a teacher earlier that day. It was incredible how harsh some teachers were at this school! Austin knew well enough that he didn’t deserve this ridiculous amount of homework assignments… if anything a suspension would’ve been better than this punishment. HELL! ANYTHING WOULD BE BETTER! Austin ruffled through his brown hair and sat up. He removed the pen from his mouth and slouched, sighing heavily as he did. His brown eyes scanned the end of the pen which was completely chewed up. If only he had a power like superior intelligence… then he wouldn’t have any trouble finishing this shit up. Austin could feel his face burn up. A frown quickly came across his face as he flung the pen at the desk. It made a small, irritable noise as it hit the wall by the end of the desk then suddenly fell to the floor. The lights flickered on and off in his dormitory while Austin started to breathe heavily. He was frustrated and it was clear to see!
Several unwanted memories began to run through Austin’s mind. Memories of the past, memories he chose to forget long ago, memories that he knew would return to haunt him. Austin buried his face in his hands and quickly chose to run both of his hands through his hair once more. This was something he did when he was feeling agitated or nervous about something or someone. He could feel his knee beginning to shake. Suddenly a quick glimpse of a tall man chuckling quietly to himself appeared like a rash on his arm.The man looked like he could be in his 50s if not early 40s, he had a head full of hair but they were all grey. He was big and muscular for someone his age. It was clear that he spent most of his time at the gym. Austin tried his best to repress this but really couldn’t. He was too emotionally unstable to repress anything. His breathing started to become quicker as the very memory flooded back into his conscious.
The man or his father towered over him, a far younger version than him. A big grin was placed on his father’s face. The younger Austin was shaking uncontrollably in the corner of a small room, his brown eyes as big as a deer’s. His father was holding something in his right hand… something hard enough to break through a wooden door or someone’s face. Lights flickered on and off in the room where the two were. Each time he light would flicker, the father would edge closer to the side of the room where Austin was. Tears were pouring down his face as he saw his father come closer and closer. A shiver ran down his spine as he heard his father’s sinister chuckle. It was slow and very harsh. Austin suddenly saw the very man who put him into this world with a metal bat in his hand, high over his shoulder like he was about to swing at something or more like someone.
Just as Austin let out a terrifying scream in his memory, he quickly shot up from his chair, his eyes open eyed like a rabbit. A loud popping noise was heard from behind him and suddenly the lights in the room were out entirely. “Shit!” Austin exclaimed as he felt his way to the door. On occasions he nearly lost his balance, tripping over used clothes or boxes of food left from days ago. As soon as he reached the door, he grabbed the handle and swung it open; he winced as the bright blinding light of the hallway hit his face. How the hell am I going to tell my roommate now… fuck, Austin thought to himself as he shut the door behind him and took a seat on the floor with his legs crossed like an Indian.
