i'll never back down, never give in
She wondered if this was sort of cheating.
To be perfectly fair, she had told the school administration that she was fluent in German. The girl had lived in Germany for a good part of her life, after all, so it only made sense. She felt that it was a rather fun language, to be honest. Sure, the fact that there were six different ways to say “you”, three ways of saying “the” and all objects apparently had genders according to the Germans made it a bit difficult at times. But easy work was boring, at least in her gaze. And, okay, she did realize that she wasn’t the most normal girl out there. But pfft. Not that she cared. But not the point – the point was that she had told said school administration and they still put her in German.
Sometimes she worried about the intelligence of adults.
Lucia had known that there were two ways she could go about it. She could’ve gone into the class with her nifty German skills and shown everyone up, and probably earn their hatred for the rest of her high school career. While she didn’t really care what most people thought of her, the idea of being hated really wasn’t appealing. Plus, Lucia wasn’t a show-off. Okay, maybe a little, but not enough to have everyone despise her. So she went with the second option, and pretty much kept to herself in the class. The teacher had remarked several times that she did amazing work – Lucia had smiled, thanked him, and left it at that. It was just simpler. Lucia helped others when they asked, but most of the time, she just chilled in the back of the class, doing her own thing.
It was incredibly boring.
Today, their teacher had stepped out of the classroom, and, as every class did when the teacher was away, the class was goofing off. Lucia was at her customary place in the back, mentally rolling her eyes. There was no way in hell she was about to get into trouble by participating in the chaos in the centre of the room. Instead, she was filling out the homework pages for the weekend. It was a Friday afternoon and while she didn’t have any super interesting plans for the weekend (read: absolutely none), the slender blonde girl didn’t want to be stuck doing homework, either. Homework was gross.
…and also very boring. Lucia sat back with a sigh, nearly being hit by a crumpled up piece of paper. She scowled in the direction of the teenager, crossing her arms over her chest. ”This is gonna be a long class, I just know it…” she muttered to herself, absently flipping her pen between her fingers, eyeing the clock. Ten minutes down, only fifty more to go…
