Austin James Philips Sophmore Male Heterosexual
»The fat lard of a principal looked over his papers with a rather disinterested attitude. He noticed you sitting down, but doesn't really have the courtesy to look up from his desk. To you, he says out loud. "Let's begin sha'll we? Tell me the basic details about yourself." With a cough, he shuffled through is papers and glanced at you once through his small eye glasses.
A pale boy sat comfortably in a cushioned chair, both hands in his jeans’ pocket. His brown eyes would scan around the office of this interviewer, unaware of the very fact that he was being judged this very second. As soon as he heard the older figure talk, this boy shot up from his chair and formed the widest smile on his face. He was more than positive that his old fellow knew that he was faking. This boy’s eyes bore into the older man’s. It looked as though this boy had a trick or two up his sleeve or simply found the appearance of the principal particularly intriguing.
With that, the boy analyzed the older man before him quickly before raising his firm hand to run through his long, messy dark brown hair. “Uhh… bit of a stupid question, don’t you think?” He asked the older man while allowing a big grin come across his face. “You’ve got everything in that little portfolio of yours!” He replied while giving the older figure a nod. Although Austin knew that joking would only make matters worse, he simply ignored this man’s soon to be frustrated expression by turning the other cheek. “Austin James Philips. Sophmore. Born on October 6th. Turning sixteen,” He suddenly answered while turning back to his interviewer. He could tell that this man just wanted Austin to answer his stupid questions, not waste time, but he couldn’t help it. He was a troublesome young boy. “Carry on,” Austin told the old man joyfully while giving him a swish with his hand.
»With a sigh, he leaned back in his chair, threw his glasses on the desk and ran his chubby fingers through thinning, greasy hair. He pinched the nose of his bridge and closed his eyes tightly as he said, "You know about the truth of this place. Now, I didn't invite you personally, my staff did. So please, give me a run down of your power." With his eyes still shut, the principal gestured with one arm toward you to begin.
“A HA! NOW YOU’VE GOT TO THE EXCITING PART!” Austin exclaimed all of a sudden while jumping to his feet. He folded his arms across his chest while smiling stupidly at the older man. He walked up to the lamp that was on the Principal’s desk. Austin reached his hand out to it and held it for a few seconds. He focused on turning off the light. He closed his eyes and breathed heavily. Within a minute or two, the light was turned off. He could feel the electrical energy coursing through his hand and deeper into his veins as he took a seat back in his chair.
“I have Electric manipulation which basically means I can control, generate or absorb electric fields. I didn’t get it the nice, fairytale way as you would say. It was actually very unfortunate of me to get it…” Austin didn’t want to continue with this subject so instead of doing so, he tried to liven up the topic. “You know… I have the power to turn the lights off in this entire building!” Austin added joyfully while laughing nervously. To be honest, he didn’t have a clue whether he could do that but it never helped to brag in an interview.
»Finally, his eyes opened groggily. However, he wasn't much warmer. He yawned loudly and largely as he looked over your paper. With eyes watery and face red he continued, "I see why we would have invited you. Let's see..ah yes. Mind telling a bit about your family and where you're from?"
When Austin heard the word family, he sunk back into his seat. He didn’t want to talk about his family or about how his father physically beat him up when he realized that it was his very own son was the culprit causing all of the random blackouts within the apartment. Austin didn’t want to think about that. After all, he was living in the present now and he was far away from his dad. Now he was living happily with his mom, who had a full time job, trying to pay for Austin’s education. He wanted to make her proud somehow but he wasn’t exactly sure how.
“A bit personal, don’t you think?” Austin questioned the older man again while frowning. “Anyways, yeah, I’m from Seattle, Washington.” He said while smiling at the old man. “Next question,” He added quickly before the interviewer could ask anymore question about his past.
»While you were talking, the principal had made himself comfortable by leaning back in his chair and intertwining his fingers. "Hmpf. You should fit right in. May I ask, what are your plans in the future? Outside of AMG?
Austin chuckled at this question. In all honesty, he didn’t have the slightest clue what career he wanted to pursue in the future. All he knew was that he wanted to leave this place and probably travel to New York. He always heard stories of people turning from nothing to something in that city and that was the complete attraction in it. Austin didn’t want to be viewed as the dumb kid on the sidelines or the one with the witty comments that never actually went anywhere. In a way, he knew the answer to this question but only in the short term.
“Well, firstly, graduate as soon as possible then travel and live somewhere… like… I don’t know… a city?” Austin replied while giving the interviewer another questionable expression. “Also, think I might… settle down… have kids… you know that stuff!” He added just as a precaution. In all honesty, children and marriage were the last thing on his mind. His main goals were really to simply graduate, live in a city, have a well-paid job and get laid. What more could a guy ask for?
»He looks much more interested now, rather awake and in a slightly better mood. "Tell me, do you have any hobbies?" he inquired, creating soft jazz hands at the word 'hobbies' as if to mock it. "You're aware that it may be difficult to continue these on the island, as you may not leave outside of break?" It was more of a statement than a question.
Austin frowned at the interviewer’s question… or statement. How long were they planning on keeping him here? He wasn’t some sort of test subject. “Well, I skateboard and eat a lot of junk food,” Austin replied while narrowing his eyes on the older man. “Can’t see why I still can’t do that on the Island…” Austin added slyly as he sat up on his chair. He had to really stop being a smart ass…
»The principal crossed his fat arms and leaned on his desk. In a much more serious tone, he asked, "Be honest, child. How do you feel about all of this...supernatural stuff?" his shoulders shrugged as he said it.
“Can’t see why I would hate it… it’s a part of my genetic makeup,” Austin replied while narrowing his eyes on the interviewer. He had a feeling that this man wouldn’t like his answer but he didn’t care. After all, he was old enough to be responsible for his own actions. “This… power is something that I was born with… instead of wasting my time hating it, I should be doing more proactive things with it like enhancing it to make it more powerful… don’t you agree?” Austin replied while allowing a small smile come across his face. Although he messed around a lot, he was still smart and quick enough to think on his feet. Not to mention, he also had a passion for Science so talking about his power only fascinated him even further.
»He leaned back on the chair that squeaked under his weight. "I see. Personally, I have mixed feelings. Anyway, we're finished now." The Principal grunted loudly as he got up to shake your hand. "It was a pleasure meeting you, do you have any questions for AMG?" he added, as he let go of your hand and buzzed the receptionist to lead you out.
“Can’t say I do,” Austin replied while standing up, he quickly shook the principal’s hand and gave a very exaggerated salute before he turned around and left the room.
