ARIEL KRISTAIN DAVID SENIOR 18 VANESSA HUDGENS
there's always another secret;
there's always another secret;
"Let's begin, shall we? Tell me about yourself. I want to know everything."
Ariel half-smiled. Why did they always start with that? Why would one want to know everything about another person? But hey, Ariel was a teenage girl, and she didn't mind talking. Not in the least. "My name's Ariel Kristain David. And the last name is pronounced Da-veed. You know, like that character from NCIS, Ziva David. Yeah, her." She had always enjoyed that show, and her life even mirrored hers in a way. A bad way, of course. The black haired girl shrugged that thought off.
"I'm half-Israeli, half-American. I lived in Israel for most of my life, though I grew up speaking both Hebrew and English. I'm eighteen years old, though people tell me I look older than that. I have an older sister, and my mother has been dead for nine years. So far, I'm the only one who has powers in my family. At least, that of the supernatural kind." Ariel sat back as soon as she was finished. She was sure that was good enough for this interview. Any more than that would be just odd.
"All right. So you know the truth about this place. What exactly did we invite you to this school for?"
Ariel gave the man in front of her a puzzled look. "Wouldn't you know already, since you guys are the ones who invited me?" she asked curiously. But she saw no reason not to answer, and gave a mental shrug. "My power is... well, I'm not sure what you would call it. Psychic weapon, maybe? I really don't like it very much..." She shifted uncomfortably, looking down at her hands. Despite her past, she really didn't like violence. "Basically speaking, I can cause pain to others. Not physical, but mental. Huge head aches, even make them pass out if I'm angry enough. But it often makes me ill when I do it. I hate it."
She fell silent at that, crossing her arms across her chest. Ariel really didn't like talking about her powers. Not at all.
"Oh yes. I see now why we would have invited you. Tell me please, a bit of background information. What is home life to you?"
Ariel winced. Here was a question she was dreading. She knew it was going to happen, but still. She sighed, running a hand through her long hair, steeling herself. "I was born in a little nameless village in Israel, the youngest of four children. My father is American, like I said, a diplomat attached to the Navy Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). My mother was part of the Mossad, a trained spy. I was very close to my parents, even though they were always gone. My older brothers were over-protective of me, my sister Meli picked on me all the time, but I loved them."
Ariel sighed again, biting her bottom lip, voice flat as she continued, “My mother was in an undercover operation with my oldest brothers Aval and Abrah when a suicide bomber detonated near their car. I was a block away and saw the whole thing. Mother was killed instantly, and my brothers made it to the hospital before dying in his father's arms.” Ariel looked away from the man, looking down at her hands. She had a scar on her cheek from where a piece of shrapnel had cut her.
“Father moved us to Haifa, and my older sister Meli went through the Mossad. Father was horrified, and they had a really bad fight. I thought he was going to hurt her, and I wished he wouldn’t really hard. He collapsed with a head ache.” Ariel smiled wanly. “I was fifteen. That was the first time I used my powers. He sent me to America to live with my grandfather, then I came here.” And that was the end. Ariel refused to say anything else. Ever.
"I see. You should fit right in. May I ask, what are your plans for outside of AMG?"
Ariel's whole face lit up at this question. The future? "I want to be a Marine! I know girls really aren't accepted as Marines, but my family has always trained to fight. I don't like violence, but I do want to protect this country. I'd rather teach different languages, since I can speak Hebrew, English, Egyptian, German and Russian." Ariel beamed, sitting back slightly.
"Huh. That's fine, actually. Uh... would you like to tell me about any hobbies or part-time jobs you have? It may be too difficult to continue once you're on the island."
Ariel frowned. "I've never really held a job. My family's pretty wealthy, and my father puts money into my account every month. I never really thought about it." Ariel wasn't really a spoiled rich girl, but she did have money.
"As for hobbies, I like to compose music. Usually violin and piano, though sometimes others. I also like shopping, but I'm female, so it stands to reason. I also sew my own clothes! Do you like them?" Ariel smiled her dimpling smile, hands in her lap.
"We're nearly finished now. But I'd like to know, how do you feel about AMG and super natural powers. I ask you be honest here."
"Personally, I hate my power. I don't want to hurt others if I get angry or anything like that! But I want to learn how to control it." Ariel said seriously, toying with a strand of her black hair. "I don't want to hurt anyone unless I have to."
"Oh, I see. I have mixed feelings about it myself, but I know what I believe in. Well, great! I think we're finished now. I've gotten a real sense of who you are! Thanks so much for your time and we'll let you know. In the meantime, do you have any questions, comments or concerns?"
Ariel shook her head, getting up. "Thank you for having me."
