" recollect me darling, raise me to your lips "
"Let's begin, shall we? Tell me about yourself. I want to know everything."
Evelyn sneered, rubbing the corners of her eyes. She hadn't slept at all last night, thinking of this day. She cleared her throat, smiling. Best behavior. Best attitude. The words repeated in the back of her mind like a broken record. "Alright," She began. "My full name is Evelyn Seraphine Ayres. But I prefer not to be formal, so please- call me Eve." Her words dripped like poison as a smirk arose in the corner of her mouth. "I was born June 6th, so I'm 18 years young and I'm a senior." Evelyn wasn't a woman of much words (unless of course there was a question that deserved a lengthy reply), and she rather enjoyed keeping it that way. She gazed down at her nails where her lime green polish had began to chip around the edges.
"All right. So you know the truth about this place. What exactly did we invite you to this school for?"
Her green-blue eyes shot to the interviewer. A question about her ability? A little blunt, though they got to the point without prolonging her presence here any longer. She smiled, a wolfish smile. "Hmmm..." She mused, leaning into her chair. "Well, I assume you invited me to this school for one reason." She pulled out mirror from her purse. Her fingers stroked the handle lovingly, feeling it's intricate floral design. In moments she felt it, the power. It was wonderful, really. A bright green light rushed from her arm down to her fingers, blessing them with destructive and deadly power. It tingled, numbing the tips of her fingers a little. The handle began to dissolve into an ash-like substance, falling gracefully on her lap. "I can make anything I want disappear with just a touch." Evelyn sighed, smiled, and placed the rest of the mirror back in her bag. "Well, I suppose not anything. But almost anything. I've gotten quite attached to my power over the years, though I'll be honest- I'm still working out a few kinks. It's tough getting used to something like this." She chuckled softly then composed herself. "I... apologize for using my power within the confines of the school. It slipped my mind- it won't happen again I assure you."
"Oh yes. I see now why we would have invited you. Tell me please, a bit of background information. What is home life to you?"
"Home life? I wouldn't say I've had the best life- but it wasn't all that bad. Unless you're emotionally sensitive." Evelyn paused, gazing to the remains of the mirror. She caught a small glimpse of herself then looked back to the interviewer. "My father was never home- I mean, I've probably seen him maybe five times alltogether in my entire life, and whenever he was home, my mother wasn't. I was the result of a one night stand, or a rape. However you take that whole drunken-girl scenario. Over the years my mother had become a drunk and we lived off of welfare and food stamps for a long while. When I was 13 she sobered up, dusted herself off and got a job. It didn't last long, but we weren't living like white trash anymore. I moved out of the house when I was 17 and began living with my grandmother- who just recently passed away. That's about it, nothing really special." She looked away from the interviewer- some things were better left unsaid about pasts.
"I see. You should fit right in. May I ask, what are your plans for outside of AGM?"
There was a moment of silence as she recollected what was going on. Evelyn cleared her throat, rubbing the immature tear that had began to collect on the side of her eye. "Oh, right..well, I haven't really thought it all through quite yet. I'd love to be a police officer- but you know us girls," She paused, her eyes meeting the interviewer's. "We love us some bad boys." Evelyn winked, grinning. "But in all seriousness- I would say my plan would be to go to college and become a police officer. I've wanted to be one ever since I can remember."
"Huh. That's fine, actually. Uh... would you like to tell me about any hobbies or part-time jobs you have? It may be too difficult to continue once you're on the island."
Here is where you may write! Also express the character's feelings about possibly giving up that hobby or job.
I guess a little hobby of mine would be writing. Not like books or anything, but poetry and songs. It helps me to release my frustration of the day." Evelyn reached her hand to her shoulder, scratching an itch that had began to greet her. "If I had to give up my poetry, it wouldn't necessarily bother me, really. Sure, I'd be more frustrated- but I'd know I'd be giving it up for the better of my education. I can't go to college without having finished school, first." Of course it'd bother her, but she wasn't about to say anything- why cause a fuss when she's meant to be on her best behavior? "I don't currently have any part-time jobs. I mean, I poked around at the idea of applying- but I never really got around to entertaining the thought."
"We're nearly finished now. But I'd like to know, how do you feel about AGM and super natural powers. I ask you be honest here."
"Oh I love my power. Love it. There's no doubt about that. It's what makes me, me. If I didn't have it, well hell. I'd just be another girl on the street." Evelyn peered down at the mirror again. "However, I suppose it can get in the way of things at times. Sometimes I get a little.... mad and overreact on some things- and it normally ends up in something irreplaceable being destroyed." She huffed. "But it's not a reason that I'd ever wish it away. Not at all."
"Oh, I see. I have mixed feelings about it myself, but I know what I believe in. Well, great! I think we're finished now. I've gotten a real sense of who you are! Thanks so much for your time and we'll let you know. In the meantime, do you have any questions, comments or concerns?"
"No, but if I do happen to stumble upon something I'm not so sure about I'll be sure to ask you." Eve lied, she wasn't one to ask for help. If she wasn't sure about something, she'd certainly find it out herself rather than depend on someone else to give her the answer. Things in life were not handed to you.
